I Need You Tonite Disclaimer: The characters used below don't belong to me, they belong to some really rich people in Japan, known only as Sunrise, The Sotsu Agency, and Bandai. "In The Arms Of Sleep" doesn't belong to me either...it belongs to a once prolific band called The Smashing Pumpkins. I'm merely borrowing elements from aformentioned groups to write a crappy songfic. :| If, for some reason, you don't like SP or HYxRP, then don't read my convuluted story... :| ================================================================= (sleep will not come to this tired body now...) He tossed and turned as he slept. His normally stoic face convulsed and contorted as he moved in his sleep. Every night it was the same dream, over and over again. They always featured HER...the one who seemed to have him under her spell. The honey-blonde woman stood in an artifical field filled with flowers, looking off into the artifical sky. It was evident to him that this was on a colony...quite possibly the same colony where he had killed the little girl and her dog. He continued walking toward her, in a cautious stride, the same one he had been trained to use when trying to surprise the enemy. As though she had some kind of sixth sense, she immediately turned around, facing him. She gave him a small smile, enchanting him, causing him to drop his guard. Slowly, almost cautiously, she approached him. His first instict was to run away, but his feet were like anvils, keeping him still within that place as the woman continued to approach him. He felt vulnerable, unsure of how he should react, and whether he could react at all. The feeling of vulnerability increased once she stood in front on him and encircled her arms around his neck, and he began to tremble. Smiling the same entrancing smile, she leaned in to give the trembling ex-pilot a kiss. As her lips approached brushing distance of his own, a shadow formed over them. Both looked up to see a large mobile suit shaped object above them. The woman's face put on a look of shock as something seem to enlighten her. He heard a gun go off, and saw her collapse to the ground. His eyes widened in shock at what he saw... (peace will not come to this lonely heart...) Heero sat up in bed, sweating profusely and panting heavily. He glanced over at the alarm clock next to him. Yet again, the dream had ended the same way and at the same time...3:33am. His Prussian blue eyes narrowed as he shifted over to sit on the side of the bed. 'What the hell does it mean?' he wondered as he reached over to the nightstand's drawer. He opened it and pulled out a picture frame. Inside of it was a picture of Relena he had taken with a special camera a year ago. She was in what was formerly known as France at the time, and he was 'checking up' on her to make sure her security guards did their job correctly. He gingerly touched the face on the picture and sighed. "Why?" he asked. The same question he asked himself and the picture every night. "Why do you do this to me? *How* do you manage to do this to me?" He shook his head as he carefully placed the picture inside the drawer and closed it silently. (there are some things i'll live without...) Aside from his occassional 'check-ups' on the Vice Foreign Minister, Heero hadn't really _seen_ Relena since the Mariemaia incident six years ago. He didn't understand why he had such dreams about her...why the dreams seemed so real, when he knew that she was safe from any danger. But, the strangest part of all had to be the _location_ where his dreams happened. Why in a field similar to the one where he had met the little girl and her dog all those years ago? Was there some sort of symbolism behind it? Suddenly, in a stream of consciousness, it became clear to the ex-pilot of Wing Zero. (but i want you to know that i need you right now i need you tonite...) "I need her..." he murmured. "I NEED Relena...but...WHY?! She's a liability to me, and if I'm with her...I'll put her in even more danger!" He laid back down on the bed, still trying to sort out the thoughts that came to him in that stream of consciousness. To be with her would definitely put her at risk, as his dream seemed to prove...but without her, she also suffered the same fate. He tried to reassure himself that there was nothing that could think of to make himself feel better. Her guards weren't any losers that anyone could have hired off the streets, they were ex-Gundam pilots like himself. He managed to convince Duo and Trowa to take the bodyguard position, taking special care to emphasize to Duo that if anything should happen to Relena, Heero would personally hold the self-proclaimed Shinigami responsible. "But, that's not good enough, is it?" he said to himself. "Of course not....I need to be the one to protect her. I need to go see her right now..." He got out of bed and quickly dressed, then left his apartment. (i steal a kiss from her sleeping shadow moves cause i'll always miss her wherever she goes...) He climbed up the wall of the mansion Relena owned, headed in the direction of the balcony. Heero knew exactly where Relena's room was: in the west part of the house, with the largest balcony. He had managed to get ahold of blueprints of the estate while it was in the constuction phase four years ago. Once he reached the balcony, he got ahold of part of the railing, and pulled himself over. Carefully, he headed to the door and pulled on one of the handles. With his strength, he easily broke the lock and opened the door without a sound. "She needs to get better locks..." he grumbled to himself as he walked in. He looked over at the bed as he approached it, watching Relena sleep. 'She's like an angel...' he thought, wondering where he had heard that description before. 'Must have gotten it from that braided dumbass...' Carefully, he sat down on the side of her bed, studying her sleeping form, taking in every minute detail. He leaned in and gave her a kiss on one of Relena's cheeks. (and i'll always need her more than she could ever need me...) "Suki desu..." he whispered. "I mean that with all my heart. I miss you wherever you are, no matter how close. You have no idea how much you mean to me...how much I need you..." (i need someone to ease my mind but sometimes a someone is so hard to find...) "You're my thoughts every waking moment. You haunt me in my dreams...but now that I'm looking at you, my mind is at ease," he continued, gently stroking her face. A lock of her honey-colored hair fell upon her face, and he gently moved it. "That braided moron of a bodyguard once told me that everyone needs someone...but sometimes that person is hard to find. You weren't hard to find...you were just hard to COME to..." He leaned over to give her another kiss when he felt a hand on his face. (and i'll do anything to keep her here tonite and i'll say anything to make her feel alright and i'll be anything to keep her here tonite...) "Heero..." Relena whispered. She smiled in the same way she always did in Heero's dreams. Heero began to tremble, unsure of what to do. Relena sat up and embraced him. "It's alright, you don't have to be scared. I heard everything you said..." "Oh shit..." he growled, trying to avoid making eye contact with her. He thanked the gods that what little moonlight there was coming into the room was dim, since he was turning about 255 different shades of red. Relena giggled softly, then snuggled with Heero, wrapping the blanket around both of them. "What you said was very sweet, Heero," she replied. "I knew you would say that eventually. Now...stay with me." Heero looked at her with a much softer version of his patented Death Glare, shaking his head. "I can't...you know that, Relena..." he said. He tried to move away from her, but found that he couldn't. To him, it felt like his entire body had turned into one large stone, and he was unable to move a millimeter. "You...would be...in even more danger. There are people out there who want me dead..." Relena nodded and released Heero from her embrace. "I understand...but can you at least stay with me until I fall asleep?" She looked at him with the same soft, innocent eyes that he had seen numerous times in their teenage days. (cause i want you to stay, with me i need you tonite...) "Alright..." Heero sighed. Relena smiled as she laid back onto the bed, wrapping the covers back around herself. He watched her drift off to sleep, then he laid down next to her, wrapping his sleeping beauty in his arms, and drifted off to sleep once more. (she comes to me like an angel out of time as i play the part of a saint on my knees...) He walked around the same grass covered field on the same nameles colony. He seemed to be lost, having no idea where he was going. Heero continued along his restless journey until he fell onto his knees. A brilliant light appeared from nowhere, and Heero's first instinct was to shield his eyes from it. He did so, then looked up, to see his 'angel', his Relena, smiling at him. (there are some things i'll live without but i want you to know that i need you right now...) "I love you..." he mouthed, returning his own smile. He raised his arms above him as Relena descended to the earth. They held one another as the bright light washed over them, consuming their sillohettes.
